Reducing our footprint

We promote resource-efficient infrastructure construction and energy efficiency in our own operations, and we minimise environmental harm.

Resource efficiency saves the climate and nature

For Kreate, the most essential construction materials are concrete, steel products and aggregates. Our operating principle is to act as resource-efficiently as possible, and the company’s circular economy areas support the achievement of this goal.

We promote the efficient use of resources and the increased use of circular economy products by optimising resource flows, complying with legislation, and increasing the knowledge and understanding of value chain actors about circular economy products and their potential uses.

In our operations, we take into account the sustainable use of energy, natural resources and materials, and we aim to prevent damage to air, water and soil during construction.

Kreate’s climate targets

2030: -50%

Emission intensity change, Scope 1+2, compared to the 2023 intensity level

2045: Climate neutral

Emission intensity change, Scope 1+2, compared to the 2023 intensity level

Scope 3

No numerical target level.
We are committed to promoting the reduction of Scope 3 emissions in cooperation with clients and other stakeholders.

Minimising the negative impacts of operations

When building diverse infrastructure projects, we impact the surrounding world in various ways. We operate in an industry that generates emissions but also offers many opportunities for improvement. The choices we make regarding construction materials, working methods and partners have far-reaching environmental consequences.

Our operations can cause local impacts such as noise, dust, vibration or odours, which may disturb nearby residents, animals and nature. With good work planning and scheduling, we can reduce the disturbance to the surroundings caused by construction, such as from large machinery, site traffic and material deliveries. Disturbances can also be reduced through good advance communication. We provide timely information about noisy work, changes in traffic arrangements and other work phases affecting local people, always using the specific project’s communication channels. We also strictly comply with the permits obtained for construction, which can be numerous depending on the project.

In addition to their temporary environmental impacts, our end products – such as roads, bridges, railways and circular economy areas – have significant positive impacts on society. We always strive for efficiency in our operations, as the more efficiently we complete our projects, the more we can minimise harm to the environment, people and society.

RALA environmental certificate

The RALA environmental certificate of the Building Quality Association RALA ry has been held by Kreate since the beginning of 2020. Based on the ISO 14001 system, the certificate is tailored to meet the specific needs of the Finnish construction industry. It is awarded to companies whose environmental management objectives, implementation, monitoring and development are at a good level and under continuous improvement.
